Guru Car Rentals is run by Mohamad out of Dearborn, Michigan. Not a franchise, not a fleet leased from somebody else — fourteen vehicles that we own, service and hand over ourselves.
How this started
It started with one car and a simple observation: renting a vehicle in metro Detroit was needlessly painful. Long counters, surprise fees, a car that didn't match the one you booked, and nobody who could actually answer a question about it.
So we did the opposite. One person handles your booking from the request to the keys. The rate you're quoted is the rate you pay. And because the fleet is ours, we can tell you exactly when the tires were changed and how the car drives on the highway, because we drove it there last week.
What we rent
The fleet is built around what people around here actually need. Sedans and small SUVs for everyday driving and out-of-state trips. A pickup and a full-size cargo van for moves, job sites and deliveries. A twelve-seat Sprinter for weddings, family visits and airport runs. And two Teslas plus a Toyota bZ4X for anyone who wants to skip the gas station entirely.
Every vehicle is cleaned and inspected between rentals. We photograph it with you at pickup and again at return, so there's never an argument about a scratch that was already there.
Where we serve
Pickup is at our lot in Dearborn. We also meet renters at Detroit Metro Airport, and we'll deliver to most of metro Detroit for a flat fee — Dearborn Heights, Detroit, Melvindale, Allen Park, Southfield, Livonia, Canton, Taylor and the surrounding cities. Ask and we'll quote it.
There's no mileage cap on where you can take the car. People rent from us for Chicago, Toronto, Florida and everywhere in between. You get 200 miles a day included, and anything past that is 35¢ a mile.
